I'm still working to pull together a 'mini-site' for cataloging and making available what free fonts I've been able to scour off the web. I should hopefully have some up in a few days.
Note that some of them are alpha-only, without numbers or punctuation, some are partial, some are full basic-ascii characters.
I'm trying to lean towards fonts that will make for good site titles or headlines. If you have any suggestions of good, free truetype fonts you'd like to see as sIFR fonts, drop a line to cgcode at chait dot net.
I'm looking only for sites or zips that specifically list that the font is both free for any use (personal or commercial) and may be redistributed, and have a clear 'history trail' I can follow and document.
I'm sick of fonts without a clear notation of their particular license being tossed around the net like they ARE free!
I'm additionally working on a way to EMBED license information into the meta data of the SWF file, which can then be read through PHP (or other languages) in order to provide details on a website directly from the font file...
