SilverStone Technology is a leading maker of computer cases, many of which are both beautiful industrial designs and amazingly functional enclosures. Specifically, they focus on enclosures with low acoustics and good thermal distribution, and thus many of them are targeted at the growing home theater PC space – and as such, many SilverStone products have that ‘brushed aluminum’ look and feel. To match their cases, they of course need a lineup of accessories, and we’ll be starting off with one of them here.
The SilverStone SST-SDP01 is a cool USB-based digital media reader/writer unit, also called the ‘Flash Genie’. When SilverStone said they’d send me one, I just knew the basic features of the unit from their website – and since the SDP was still pretty new at that time, they didn’t yet have the huge array of pictures they now have. So, I was mostly working off of basic specifications from the SilverStone website:
