Eclipse Solar Gear has combined a high-quality backpack with a solar charging unit, creating the Solar Backpack.
Likely targeted for teens, college students, or for hiking and travelling outdoors, this otherwise stylish, featureful ‘Reactor’ backpack includes a solar charging module on the back face of the pack. The solar system has a standard 12V auto adapter ‘jack’, so virtually any portable device can be charged off it – just plug in your standard car charger into the jack, and into your cell phone, MP3 player, PDA, or even small GPS unit, and a trickle charge will be provided to the device. Of course, the solar module is only designed to power most small devices – the backpack wasn’t designed to power things like laptops and other high-power electronics.
Inside you’ll find multiple pockets for carrying small devices: MP3 player, CD player, mobile phone, etc. An MP3 player designed pouch features a mesh pocket to safely carry your device, plus an ‘exit hole’ for a headphone cable. Large internal sections are good for books or clothes, the back section has a removeable laptop sleeve, and the front accessory pouch holds CDs, pens, a lanyard for keys, and even a removeable clip (ostensibly for USB memory sticks).
