Entempo Announces Rubato 20GB MP3 Jukebox Player

We don’t have much to go on, but just based on price and feature set the Entempo Rubato could be a cool new MP3 player.

The upcoming Rubato, coming out on Feb 21, is the latest Jukebox player from Entempo. Like their previous model, the Rubato includes ShoX™ technology which is supposed to keep the hard drive safe. Of course, it isn’t like we’ve heard lots of stories about iPods with crashed disks or anything. But it’s supposed to be significantly safer than the average hard-drive player.

The initial Rubato will be a 20GB unit, and supports MP3, WMA, and Microsoft DRM files. With a USB2.0 interface, and on-board MusicMagic software, the unit is targeting entire-library listeners. MusicMagic, previously available as a PC product, apparently lets you create a playlist instantly by picking a song – it then uses some kind of sound analysis to find other similar songs on the player, creating a unique mix. Could be cool – we’ll be interested to try it for ourselves and hear other users’ experiences.

Other staple features include an FM Tuner, voice recording (apparently with the mic built into the ear buds), ear buds, carrying case, power supply, and USB2 cable. All for just $239 MSRP. Not shabby at all! We’re waiting for full specs, including battery life – check back in the days ahead.
