Obviously trying to keep beating on the iPod mini, Creative comes back with a full salvo of 4GB, 5GB, and 6GB models of the Zen Micro to try and capture market share.
We’ve , so I’ll keep this short and sweet. The Micro is a decent competitior to the iPod, given that it is much more than the iPod in total features, yet size-wise it’s close, it comes in ten colors, and has a cool glow to the unit when active.
The Micro supports MP3 and WMA music files, including downloaded music from tons of different internet music sites (and has added Napster To Go support). It has voice recording, FM radio, recording off the radio, a decent 12-hour battery life with the LiIon rechargeable battery, plus batteries are user replaceable so you can pack extras with you for long trips.
But now, you have THREE different versions to choose from: a 4GB, 5GB, and 6GB variation. To lead off this ‘rebirth’, the 4GB model is priced at $199.99 US, but is currently $179.99 after a $20 mail-in rebate Creative is running. The Zen Micro 5GB player retails at $229.99, and the largest 6GB unit is $249.99. Dead-on competitive pricing with the at $199 for the 4GB and $249 for the 6GB unit.
Better believe we’re trying to get a model in here for a full dissection.
We want to see how the average user takes to the Micro, and how its extra features stack up against the mini.
Read on for the full release.
